1. Who we are
Web Dev NC ("we", "us") makes the Eye Saver app for Android and runs this website. This policy covers the Eye Saver app and eyesaver.webdevnc.com. Web Dev NC is the controller of the personal data described here.
2. Data stored on your phone
Eye Saver saves these on your phone so the timer and settings work:
- Timer settings: whether reminders are on, break interval, break length, postpone time, skip limit, strict mode, warning, and sound choices.
- Pause settings: calls, media, and the list of apps you chose for Pause in chosen apps.
- Your running totals of breaks taken, skipped, and postponed.
- Your theme choice and whether you finished setup.
- Whether you have Premium, and when a 24-hour pass ends.
We don't receive this data. Clearing Eye Saver's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the app, deletes it.
3. Data sent to Google services
Eye Saver uses four Google services. Each one receives the data below when you use the app.
Firebase Analytics
Eye Saver records these events: screens you open, finishing setup, granting or denying a permission, turning the timer on or off, changing a break setting or mode, and Premium actions such as opening a purchase or finishing a rewarded ad. Firebase also collects standard details on its own, including an app instance ID, device model, Android version, app version, language, and an approximate location at country or region level derived from your IP address.
Firebase Crashlytics
When the app crashes, Crashlytics receives a crash report: the error and stack trace, device model, Android version, app version, time of the crash, and a Crashlytics installation ID. Development and test builds don't send crash reports.
Google Mobile Ads
Free users see a banner ad in the app, and anyone can watch a rewarded ad for a 24-hour Premium pass. To serve these ads, Google Mobile Ads receives your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, and how you interact with ads. Eye Saver declares Android's AD_ID permission for this purpose.
Google Play Billing
If you buy Premium, subscribe, or restore a purchase, Google Play tells Eye Saver which product you own and whether it is active. Google Play handles the payment. We don't receive your card number, billing address, or full name.
Email to support
If you email support@webdevnc.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write, including any device details you add.
4. Data we don't collect
Eye Saver doesn't ask for or collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, files, messages, precise location, microphone, or camera. It doesn't read the content of other apps.
If you turn on Pause in chosen apps, Eye Saver uses Android's usage access to check which app is open. It does this on your phone. Eye Saver doesn't send the app list, the apps you open, or usage history to us or to analytics.
5. Android permissions
| Permission | Why Eye Saver asks for it |
|---|---|
Display over other apps SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW | Shows the break screen on top of the app you are using. Required. |
Notifications POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Shows that the timer is running and warns you 10 seconds before a break. Required. |
Foreground service FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE | Keeps the timer running while you use other apps. |
Run at startup RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Starts the timer again after your phone restarts, if it was on. |
Battery optimization exemption REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS | Optional. Asks Android not to delay the timer to save battery. |
Vibration VIBRATE | Signals the end of a break. |
Usage access PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS | Optional, Premium. Checks which app is open so the timer can wait in apps you choose. Stays on your phone. |
Internet and network state INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Loads ads, sends analytics and crash reports, and talks to Google Play. |
Advertising ID AD_ID | Lets Google Mobile Ads read the advertising ID to serve ads. |
Google Play billing BILLING | Lets you buy and restore Premium through Google Play. |
You can turn most permissions off in Android Settings > Apps > Eye Saver. The feature that depends on a permission stops working when you do.
6. How we use data
- To run the timer, break screen, pauses, and Premium features you choose.
- To see which features people use and where setup goes wrong, so we can improve the app.
- To find and fix crashes.
- To show ads to free users, which pays for the free version.
- To process and verify purchases and subscriptions.
- To answer your support emails.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you for Premium purchases and support, and our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, understanding its use, and funding it with ads. Where the law requires your consent for ads or analytics, we rely on consent.
8. Ads and your choices
- Delete or reset your advertising ID. On most phones, open Android Settings > Google > Ads, or Settings > Security & privacy > More privacy settings > Ads. After you delete it, apps receive a string of zeros instead.
- Remove ads. Premium removes the banner ad. The rewarded ad for a 24-hour pass only plays when you choose to watch it.
- Stop all collection. Uninstall Eye Saver.
9. How long data is kept
- On your phone: until you clear Eye Saver's storage or uninstall it.
- Firebase Analytics: event data stays for the retention period set in our Google Analytics settings, which Google limits to between 2 and 14 months.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Google keeps crash reports and their installation IDs for 90 days.
- Google Mobile Ads and Google Play: Google keeps this data under its own policies linked above.
- Support email: as long as we need it to help you and keep a record of the conversation. Ask us to delete it at any time.
10. Your rights and deletion
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or move your personal data, to object to or limit how we use it, and to withdraw consent. People in the EEA and UK can also complain to their local data protection authority.
Because Eye Saver has no account, we can't look up your data by name or email. The data deletion page explains what you can delete yourself and how to send us a request. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
11. Security
Eye Saver sends data to Google services over encrypted connections. Google stores Firebase, ads, and billing data on its own systems. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, and we can't promise that data will never be exposed.
12. Children
Eye Saver isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child under 13 used Eye Saver and you want their data removed, email us and we'll help.
13. International transfers
Web Dev NC and Google may process data in the United States and other countries where privacy laws differ from yours. Google provides safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses, described in its policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when the app's data practices change and change the effective date at the top. For a significant change, we'll also post a notice on this site before it takes effect.
